I was just looking browsing my house on Valentines day, because as always..I spend it alone. I stumbled upon tickets and wrist bands of shows I previously attended, which is when I realized I never got to brag about the bands I’ve seen in the past two months!
I’m not particularly “nuts” about any of the bands, but I cant deny the fun I had during these performances.
In January, I believe I saw Passion Pit at Terminal 5, the guys sounded great but the crowd was sweaty, boring, and puke-y. Who likes puke? I certainly do not! That previous night I wasn’t all that stoked for their set, but they played a pretty wild show. What really surprised me was their first opening band, BRAHMS. Apparently it was their first show ever and frankly I thought it was mint (though everyone else thought otherwise). That night Tragedy, a metal tribute to the Bee Gees, also performed. Annnnd I wasn’t quite ready for them. I’ll just leave it at that.
A week later I saw The Cribs, I have to say in the past two months I’ve never felt so at liberty and free. On top of that I had the privilege to be in presence of Johnny Marr. Ohhh Johnny<3 For those who don’t know, he was previously in a small band called…The Smiths oh & Modest Mouse (also The The and The Electric). I have such an indescribable crush on this man. I’m sick. Their openers included Adam Green, who was repulsively drunk and I’ll even go as far as to say, on drugs. I personally didn’t give a shit; it actually gave me a rather excellent laugh. It’s not like anyone was there to see him anyway. Right? The Dead Trees opened as well, there drummer reminded me of a college kid who would kill to be in the Beatles. His drumming was on point, it was cute. My opinion is: download there music but don’t see them live. Sorry guuuuys.
HANGIN' OUT
Last but not least, on a Friday morning around 7:30 am I found out about a FREE Myspace secret show with Hot Chip. Long story short, I stopped by, got in, Free Energy played, they are now on replay on my iPOD and Hot Chip were fucking ace. Love these boys. Thank You and G’night!
