MUSIC MONDAY

"Three handsome young men", also known as Davey Crokkett just released their EP Between Nowhere and the Trees, and I think you should go and listen to it....now.

You know that shitty punk-grimey-*suuuuckkk myy diiiiiii-core* "music" Staten Island has been producing lately? These boys are the polar opposite. See what I did there?* They have sort of a dizzy sound that reminds me of a down-in-the dumps-place that I don't want to discover because I hate it there. But despite that feeling, I can't stop listening.

In "Bigfoot", a track that starts off with a laid-back, lo-fi, sound quickly turns into a song that I don't want to relate to. "And I deserve to be happy, but I can't be happy", we've all been in this place, in fact, some of us might never get out, which is scary, but that's why you need to be ambitious and willing, and you realize maybe things will change, regardless of that we all feel this at one point in our lives...hoooly run on sentence.

They also cover a version of Ke$ha's "Tic Toc"...in ITALIAN! "Più Merde di Sangue", which I didn't bother to Google Translate, sounds a lot more pleasing to the ear than the trash-bag-chic queen's original (I use that word lightly) song.Though, it is possible that the joke's on me and this song is really about love and heartache. Anyone understand Italian?

The album wraps with "Frankie Blue-Eyes", the song with one of my favorite lyrics, "Anchor my looks in your maybelline lashes. Bury me hooks in your de chiriko skin". Whoever said boys are stupid can go away now.

Anyway, support these boys and generally New York talent!

Favorite song: "Oops, I Blew It!"

*If you listen to the album you'll understand.
